Power Distribution Module (PDM)

This is an inquiry due to my electronic ignorance.

I'm considering installing a dual dash cam (Innovv K2) and an alarm (Scorpio SRX and/or RLink) on Lady Vultus.
Do I need a PDM for just these 2 devices?
On researching, I ran across Amplink (Rowe Electronics) and m.unit.blue (Motogadget). Is the Motogadget a PDM or a totally different type of unit?

Any advice or enlightenment on this subject is greatly appreciated. Thanx.

All depends on what you want to do for power. You can wire direct to battery if in line fuse, and use a relay for auto off/on, you can find a switched wire such as the accessory wire, or anything you want if not drawing too many amps. A power distribution box is good, and generally used if you are going to keep loading the bike with electronics, but personally I'd simply wire a Relay to the battery and tie both your devices to the relay so they go on and off automatically with the bike and still draw full power from battery. as I said, your choice.

Coincidentally I have this exact setup. a slightly older version of the scorpio and the K2.
My mechanic did not use the innov power hub.
Since the power hub turns off with the bike, that would turn off the alarm, and prohibit parking mode on the K2
I do want to share my experiences with you.
I live in a condo where there is no common AC power where the motorcycle is parked.
If my battery goes dead, I have to remove battery, bring up stairs charge and reinstall.
Do not know what your situation is with power.
Both devices are using power when the bike is off.
The scorpio uses less than 10ma/hr depending on features active.
The k2 uses 150ma/hr in parking mode or none without parking mode. This assumes that you have the new K2 powersupply with the blue LED.
If yours doesn't have the blue LED, then check with innov for free replacement.
Regarding the K2, It has a "smart" power supply for parking mode.
This means you can set a lower limit for your battery and if the battery hits that, then it turns off parking mode.

What it really comes down to, is power management.
Originally I was using a https://shoraipower.com/battery?type...15&year=382515 because of the extra 19AH capacity.
But after not using the bike for several days I would still come back to a dead battery.
I kept a https://antigravitybatteries.com/pro...-starts/sport/ micro starter pack on the bike @ all times rather than remove/replace the battery.
The only problem with this is that the stock charging system on the bike isn't designed to manage charging Lipo4 batteries the way a dedicated charger is.

So I recently changed to a https://antigravitybatteries.com/pro...-oem/atz10-rs/
This has a built in jump starter and intelligent power management built into the battery. It has lower AH but I'm not going to run into a truly dead battery this way.

I also want to share with you this product: https://www.blackboxmycar.com/pages/...-battery-packs
Both the blackvue version and the neo are made by the same company. No difference except the connectors they are packed with (The neo is more generic).
I recently put in a dashcam on my car, and bought a few of these battery packs (they daisy chain). The neos only recharge from the battery when the car is on.
The dash cam is powered only by the neo. So it runs until neo is out of power, and then goes to standby. Never sucks power off the main battery.

I'm thinking of going back to my SHORAI for the higher AH and putting in a neo, and having the alarm and camera system attached to the neo only.
This way they never draw power from the main battery only the neo. When neo is discharged that's it until I start the bike again, and I should have no draw with the bike off, other then for bike clock/etc.

This dashcam site can give you a lot of info https://dashcamtalk.com/forum/
They also have a subforum for the k2 https://dashcamtalk.com/forum/forums/k2.273/
This thread shows the k2 installed on my bike: https://dashcamtalk.com/forum/thread...nc700jd.37395/
Both INNOV the manufacturer, and the North American distributor for INNOV are active on the site and very responsive to customers.

Hope some of this helps.
