Hankerin for a larger gas tankerin my NM4

I have a hankering to have a larger gas tank in my NM4.
I am sure noone makes a dedicated bolt on due to how rare our super cool bikes are.

But has anyone thought of any ideas about how a person might get 1 or maybe 2 more gallons of capacity?

Don't think you can. I get an avg of low 70's mpg (except high speed hwy) which is pretty good range. Some carry a can of gas pre-mix, which you can make or buy (which is sealed better and longer shelf life, but more costly) at Home Depot or on line. About a quart size for emergency run out. Personally I stop, need a break. Would carry one or two for long trips in isolated areas.

The CTX 700 is even worse for range, same engine.

In theory you can add a top case, and install a spare tank in that and run it to your fuel supply line with a diverter valve.

Gas is 6.3 lbs. per gallon roughly. My 52 liter (13.7 gallon) Maxia top case is rated for about 20 lbs. but filling it with fuel would weigh 86.31 lbs.

You could probably convert one or both of our relatively useless saddlebag areas to do the same, but that becomes a balance issue depending on fuel weight.

I only say this because I've heard it done with some other bikes. You'll have to look on the web for more details. There are how-to videos on youtube.

That would do the trick quiet easily. Then we could use 10.5 or even 11 liters instead of 8.5 ( this is where my fuel gauge gets hysteric).
